RUKUNGIRI– The North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has announced a major restructuring, involving promotions and transfers of several priests during a council meeting held at the diocesan headquarters on Friday 12th January 2024.
According to a circular received by our reporter, Rev. Dickens Baguma, formerly the Parish priest of Nyakeina, has been elevated to the position of Archdeacon and posted to Nyakisoroza Archdeaconry in Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rev. Benson Akankwasa who is been serving as a parish priest of Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda, has been promoted to serve as the Archdeacon of Buhunga Archdeaconry and Ven James Tumusiime from Buhunga to Bwanga Archdeaconary.
In other changes, Ven Amatsiko Niwegariho has been moved from Rujumbura Archdeaconry to assume the role of the Dean at Emmanuel cathedral Kinyasaano. Amatsiko is succeeded by Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa, formerly the archdeacon of Bwanga.
Ven. Capt. Jaron Atusinguza has been transferred from Nyabitete to Rubirizi Archdeaconry in Nyarushanje sub-county, Rev. Lamech Muramuzi relocated from Besania Prayer Mountain to All Saints Church Nyakariro Church of Uganda in Bugangari sub county.
Rev. Collins Tugatungire, who previously served as the diocesan treasurer, has been reassigned to be the chaplain of Kisizi Hospital. Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, formerly the diocesan Estates Manager, now assumes the role of Diocesan Father’s Union Coordinator. He was succeeded by Mugabe Alex Nathan, who is also the mayor of Kebison Town Council.
In a noteworthy change, Rev. Enock Karamuzi, the former diocesan secretary, has been transferred to Nyabiteete as the Archdeacon. He is succeeded by Ven. Erick Beingana Mugyenzi, the former Dean of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasaano.
