MITOOMA- The National Water and Sewerage Corporation has confirmed that Mutara Sub – county and Town council will get its own water pump before May 2024.
This looks like a blessing since people in this area have been lacking clean and safe water until when the Mitooma district Woman Legislator Honorable Agasha Juliet Bashisha and Ruhinda South MP Hon Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda patterned with the corporation to increase clean and safe water coverage in the area.
Our reporter was in Bukongoro 5 cell in Bukongoro parish Mutara on Saturday 16th March 2024 and talked to the NWSC area manager Savio Tumuramye and Honorable Agasha Juliet Bashisha who had come to hand over water pipes meant to connect clean water to Nyarutuntu, Omukihogo and Bweyo all in Mutara, Mitooma district.
The pipes were lobbied by Honourable Agasha Juliet Bashisha and Hon Captain Kahonda Dononzio and are being helped by National Water and Sewerage Corporation to extend clean and safe water to all parts of Mitooma district.
Recently, National Water and Sewerage Corporation MD Engineer Silver Mugisha was attending a church fundraising in Mitooma and promised to put a water source for Mutara to reduce the burden of getting it from the Kabira source.
By the time of this story publication, engineers had already surveyed the area as they planned to put another 2 pumps at Isharaza and also extend water to Omunshaka all in Mutara.
According to Tumuramye Savio, they are set to install the water pump in few days and also launch NWSC water in Buharambo Kabira Town council because it’s already complete. He thanked Hon Agasha Juliet Bashisha for assisting NWSC in extending water to different areas by lobbying for pipes and supporting communities in connections.

Bashisha told our reporter that they are still extending water coverage to all parts of Mitooma district and thanked NWSC MD Engineer Silver Mugisha for supporting their efforts in lobbying for clean and safe water.
She also thanked the Ugandan government for the good service delivery to Ugandans and then extending clean water to all areas saying “clean water is life”.

Notably, this area still lacks electricity but information obtained by our reporter indicates that a survey has been made and soon these people will be walking in the light.
