Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu is looking for shillings over 99.65 billion to facilitate the implementation of a number activities highlighted in her five- year strategic development plan 2025/2031.
The strategic development plan launched today under the theme “Rwenzururu for Peace, Unity and Socio- economic transformation” lines with the five pillars that the kingdom is championing.
It was launched during the Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma’s birthday run and the 59th coronation anniversary at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese town.
Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister, unveiling a summary of the content indicated in that strategic development plan, explained that they were focusing on capital and none capital projects, all focusing on improving the lives of the people.
Baritazale noted that they allocated shillings 11 billion to promote the visibility of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, shillings 3.85 billion for protecting and preserving Obusinga, culture and tradition while shillings 1.6 billion is projected to facilitate consolidating unity in diversity among the Obusinga community.
Other activities include promoting tourism in the region at shillings 1.7 billion, increasing agricultural production at shillings 9.5 billion, improving education and Vocational skills development at shillings 54.3 billion and promoting gender, equality, youth empowerment and technology at shillings 11.95 billion.
The Prime Minister also indicated that shillings 1.67 billion is allocated to facilitate health services and shillings 3.37 billion to facilitate activities aimed at ensuring sustainable land use, management, water and environmental protection.
He, however told the Rwenzururu subjects that, there was no other source of money other than depending on them for mobilization and donations.
Political leaders who attended the function pledged support to the highlighted projects and to accelerate the message to the communities.
Kasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi noted that the strategic plan suits in the plans that the district is cherishing.
Muhindi encouraged the people to embrace hard work so that they can have improved livelihoods to enable them support the kingdom since they were the sole donors.
However, Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Ferigo Kambale reminded government of the pledges that are not yet fulfilled.
Some dignitaries present at the function were; Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga, Hon. Florence Kabugho, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, Christine Muhindo, the Senior Presidential Advisor, Mrs. Sarah Ithungu Masereka Baleke, Fatuma Kathembo Kamama, Mary Marylin Kabugho, Yofesi Douglas Madaraka. Others are Joseph Mafunguro for Kasese Municipality, Saulo Maate Chairperson People’s Front for Freedom – PFF, Ivan Bibuwa LC III for Kyarumba Town Council, Cleus Bwambale of Bukonzo County East, Shahidu Thahakaba of Bukonzo County West, Jonan Bwambale Bamwenda of Busongora County North and Jolly Masika Kateeba of Kasese Municipality.
