RUKUNGIRI – A delegation from the St Raphael Old Students Association (STROSA), led by their Chairperson Mr. Keitirima Andrew, donated sports attire to St Raphael SS Nyakanyinya in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District ahead of this year’s USSSA Boys Football Games campaign.
The donation was handed over to the School headteacher Jones Bekunda on Saturday March 9th 2023
Keitirima expressed gratitude for the School’s recent achievements in district football competitions, which served as the impetus for the generous donation by the Old Students.
Acknowledging both athletic accomplishments and academic excellence, Keitirima extended gratitude to the Headteacher and the Sports department for elevating St Raphael’s status in the national arena.
Headteacher Bekunda Jones appreciated STROSA’s considerate gesture, recognizing the association’s consistent support, including involvement in past projects and assistance of members during times of bereavement.
Emphasizing STROSA’s priorities, Keitirima highlighted that providing sports attire for the school’s football team was the number one focus among the association’s three major activities this year.
Other upcoming projects include supporting the construction of a Multipurpose Hall for the school and initiating a member-centered project for the STROSA fraternity.
Speaking to our reporter, Levi Napoleon Tukundane, the STROSA Publicity Secretary underscored the significance of building a robust Old Students association. Tukundane reiterated that the fraternity’s size, with over 2000 alumni, mostly from the working class, is now tasked with giving back to the school that played a pivotal role in shaping their identities.
These noteworthy developments unfolded subsequent to the grand STROSA revival dinner at Heritage Country Club on December 26 last year, marking the ascendancy of Andrew’s leadership.
Established in 2014, STROSA has experienced gradual growth over the years, attracting increasing numbers of alumni. The association has spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the school’s development and fostering benefits for its members.
