NEWS– The office of the chairperson LCI Bwenanule in Bwenanule ward Muhokya town council, Busongora county South in Kasese District has delivered copies of Bwenanule land dispute to the higher offices in government.
The offices that have received copies include office of the prime Minister of Uganda, Minister of lands Housing and urban development, inspectorate of government to pay attention into the land matter in Kasese District.
The letters were delivered by Mr. Lawrence Bwambale the area LCI chairperson.
The letter states that Reference is made to above land dispute that has been going on since May 2022 when a team approached office of area LCI claiming to be owning land with a land title in my village Bwenanule Cell, Bwenanule Ward, Muhokya Town Council in Kasese District with an intention of selling it to Government of Uganda under the Office of the Prime Minister whose intention was to resettle Disaster Displaced people who are currently living in a camp at Muhokya.
Since May 2022, there has been several discussions and meetings with an aim of finding an everlasting solution to this matter given that its location was not clear and the so called owners were just guessing on the location.
Given that the team claiming ownership were presenting a title, we made search at Ministry of lands Ministry to find out about the authenticity of the title and found out that this title was found in Butakingaa village that is not found in this known place called Bwenanule. The community further discovered that this title was never plotted at Ministry of land with no data referring to the survey, we further discovered that there was never a JRJ file record in Ministry of lands both at Entebbe Survey office and Kabarole land office.
This information was brought to the attention of the RDC and other relevant offices your office included and informed your office to advice Government from not paying for land whose ownership had issues.
The letter also says, to our surprise, while we were raising our issues and expecting to be listened to, your office through your District Physical Planning committee which you chair went ahead and approved the application of subdivision of that title under minute …KDPPC 11/2022(5)(D)(1)(a) of November 4th 2022 and the same day the District Land Board under KDLB11/2022(3)(F)(1)A under directive.

Because we were not being given an opportunity to be listened to, we took this matter to court for legal redress, while in court and even after informing of the court matter that we had filed you further approved a Resurvey of land under your Physical planning committee minute KDPPC 12/2022(5)(F) of December 20th and it’s on this basis that you have a fraudulent title and was after that that managed to secure a JRJ the current map which you are now boosting of.
We thought that your office was the one going to protect us and our property but your recent media address and the your social media posts have clearly proved to us that you are not ready to protect us despite your knowledge about the court matter that is ongoing and also well aware that the land in question if fully occupied by known customary owners and those with land titles.
The purpose of this letter is that we heard you media report about your intention to resettle some people by displacing my community, we want to notify you that we took our matters to court and therefore expect court to provide Justice which you seem not ready to provide.
We are also consulting our lawyers on further action especially about the actions that you have taken as your office and through District physical planning committee and the directive you gave the District Land Board to give minutes of approval for subdivision on land that has conflict.
The community is still open for talks that brings peace and harmony and requests that you hand over that title to the seating tenants of Bwenanule because you formalized an illegality by approving a resurvey on their land without their consent.
