The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a business man identified as Geoffrey Rutambira a resident of Kakooko village in Bukoora Parish in Kitumba Sub-county.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident that took place yesterday at Kabumba village in Bukoora Parish by unknown assailant.

It’s alleged that Muhwezi Nelson while on his way from Kakooko village where he had gone to demand for his money from one of the locals, saw some light in the eucalyptus forest along the road side and got scared and after about ten minutes, he decided to move there and upon getting to that spot, he found a lifeless body that he identified as that of one Mzee Rutambira.

He then informed Turyahewa Sharon who moved there and confirmed the same incident and she reported the matter to Kabale Central Police Station.

Maate said that the scene was visited, examined and documented by the Police Detectives together with the K-9 Unit dog which was introduced at the scene to aid in tracking down the suspects but it wasn’t successful given that the locals had tempered with the crime scene.

Maate said that the body was retrieved from the scene and conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary where it was examined by the Regional Police Surgeon  and later handed over to the relatives for a decent burial.

Maate ssid that efforts are on going to have the assailants identified and arrested for prosecution as investigation continue.
