NEWS– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has returned after a one-day official visit to Zanzibar where he held a meeting with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and His Excellency, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan and William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya.
Their discussions centered on the East African community, particularly fast-tracking the federation, guided by three perspectives of the unity of the communities within the East Africa Community, the economic interests of building a bigger market, and the strategic security that guarantees the stability of the community.
Upon his return, President Museveni was warmly received at Entebbe International Airport by the Vice President Major Jessica Alupo Epel, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ms Lucy Nakyobe, the Commander of the UPDF Air Force, Lt Gen Charles Okidi, the Director Crime Intelligence Christopher Ddamulira and the Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Samuel Akena.
Meanwhie, the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among, yesterday met and held discussion with Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties David Mafabi and the Special Presidential Assistant for Special Duties Ms Barbra Nabirye.
The two presidential advisors were dispatched by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to bolster the Legislature on strategic matters and their dialogue encompassed pivotal National interests.
She appreciated the two Presidential Advisers for their steadfast commitment to serving the country and promised that such engagements should become regular in future because they guide the strategic planning of the Parliament.
Senior Presidential Adviser Mafabi told the Speaker that whatever was discussed will form part of their report that they will deliver to the President for further perusal for the betterment of cordial relations between the two Arms of the Government, the Legislature and Executive.
