NEWS- The Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons (D-CGP) Samuel Akena has urged Prison Officers who are undergoing the Intermediate Command and Staff Course at the Prisons Academy and Training School to uphold the highest level of discipline in their careers.
Deputy Commissioner General Akena emphasized that discipline is a core value of the service, and officers should strive to maintain fairness and firmness in its application.
He highlighted key values that officers should adhere to, including self-discipline, financial discipline, time management, patriotism, equity and smartness.
Akena also stressed the importance of staff welfare and ensuring the well-being of prisoners and guided the officers through disciplinary proceedings, offering insights on handling firearms and showing respect for superiors.
“Discipline has propelled our service to its current standards, it has promoted peace and stability within the institution and Uganda as a whole,” he said.
The training aims to equip officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles and promote a culture of discipline, integrity and professionalism within the Uganda Prisons Service.
