Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba has highlighted five primary schools that received new three-classroom blocks, previously in a deplorable state.
The schools are Mungara Primary School in Muko Sub-county, Kagogo Primary School in Ikumba Sub-county, Ruhonwa 2 Primary School in Hamurwa Sub-county, Nyamiringa Primary School in Bubare Town Council, and Nangalo Primary School Town council.
He praised Minister Henry Musasizi Ariganyira for lobbying funds for the district, enabling the renovation of these schools. The district also distributed twin desks and iron sheets to the schools.
Ruhonwa 2 Primary School’s headteacher, Kiconco Gad, said the old buildings were a safety hazard, especially during rain, and affected enrollment as parents feared for their children’s safety. A catechist, Maria Evas, recalled a tragic incident where a classroom wall killed the PTA chairperson, Musasizi Alex.
Parents at Ruhonwa 2 Primary School welcomed the renovations, saying the children previously studied in dusty conditions, like those in a garden.
