NEWS- The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances under which a 40 year old Church of Uganda lay reader mysteriously went missing and his whereabouts remain unknown.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesman identified the victim as 40 year old Aryatwijuka Living who has been serving as a lay reader at Rubira church of Uganda, but a resident of Katookye cell, Kigata parish, Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district.
Maate confided to the press that the Police have already mounted a hunt to establish where the man of God could have disappeared from after a disappearance was entered into their books under reference number CRB 063/2024.
It’s alleged that the lay reader went missing on 15th January 2024 at an unknown time according to what Ninsiima Prudence 38 year old peasant resident of Katookye village, Kigata parish, Kyanamira Sub County in Kabale district told Police.
Facts at Police’s fingertips have it that the victim left his home on Monday 15th January 2024 at around 10Am on his motorcycle and didn’t go back home, until at around 9Pm when his wife Ninsiima Prudence started calling on his telephone number but it was off.
The relatives of the victim started looking for him and while on pursuit, they came across his coat, maroon in color, church books and the receipt for the church money were all found abandoned along Kabale Mbarara road.
Maate told the press that on Tuesday January 16th 2024, at around 8am, complainant Niinsima Prudence was told that her husband’s motorcycle was found abandoned at Lubira village along Mbarara road in Kabale and was taken to the area Parish chairman by two good Samaritans.
Upon receiving information, Police dispatched a team of Homicide, crime intelligence, local leaders to visit, examine the scene and conduct search for the victim.
Maate adds that also no links to the disappearance have been found so, but a case file of disappearance under reference number SD 17/16/01/2024 now CRB 063/2024 was developed, scene of crime visited by the team of homicide detectives and documented, relevant statements obtained.
Investigations and search for the victim still ongoing according to Maate and rallies the public to render any possible information for the victim’s recovery.
