The Police in Rukungiri District have arrested the NRM Registrar identified as Wright Mwongyera for alleged intent to defraud and deceive, knowingly forged internal NRM Parliamentary Elections results by manipulating and signing on the last declaration form for Rubabo County NRM Parliamtaly Elections seat for Men 2025.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the arrest of Mwongyera who also doubles as the GISO of Rwerere Sub County in Rukungiri District.
Maate said that the alleged forgery act was done on July 19th 2025, at Rukungiri District Council Hall where the tallying of NRM Members of Parliament elections results were being conducted.
The case was reported to the Police by one of the candidates, Alex Rugonde who was described as a businessman and a resident of Nyakiju Cell in Bugyera in Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District.
Maate explained that a case file was opened, was sent to Resident State Attorney for legal guidance and was sanctioned and the suspect will be taken to courts of law to answer charges accordingly and he should have been taken to court already, but magistrates are on retreat in Mbarara City the whole of this week.
