NEWS- The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction in Rukungiri late last month completed their consultative constituency meetings in Rujumbura county.

The meetings commence in Bugangari Sub County on Monday, 27th May 2024, where they were unable to meet after their arrangements were interfered by security officials from Rukungiri Central Police who fire teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the party supporters explaining that they didn’t seek permission from the Inspector General of Police to hold this gathering.

The same situation was also experienced in Buhunga and Nyakagyeme Sub countie as well as in Rwerere Town council but the leaders with their supporters were able to go on with these meetings in safe hidden places.

While meeting all the members in the constituency, the Former Member of Parliament for Rujumbura constituency also the FDC chairperson Hon Fred Turyamuhweza alleged that the state of corruption in Uganda is alarming and concerns all the taxpayers.

Hon Turyamuhweza pointed out that the NRM government spends tax payers money extravagantly in luxuries like buying new cars for the former government officials, over 500 members of Parliament among others.

The former legislator alleged that the People of Rujumbura constituency and Uganda as a whole need services not being bought by sweats and money for the benefit of political players.

The Rukungiri District FDC woman MP flagbearer Hon Betty Muzanira Bamukwatsa stressed that it’s a responsibility of every Ugandan to start from where s/he is to fight for the Uganda they want since the future is today.

Innocent Rubarondesa, the chief mobilizer use the same platform to encourage all the supporters and well-wishers of FDC to rise up through the power ten extra for their party to rise and shine again in the forthcoming 2026 General elections.

During these consultative meetings, the FDC supporters and well-wishers in Rujumbura County asked Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza and Hon Betty Muzanira to come back and contest in the coming 2026 general elections.

The meetings ended up with FDC leadership and supporters launching the power ten extra in Rujumbura constituency and the entire district.
