NEWS– The Police in Rukungiri district are hunting for a 43 year old Nankunda Marisiari for allegedly murdering his 78 year old biological mother one Elena Bakeihahwenki a resident of Kibombo cell, Nyakina parish in Buyanja sub county of Rukungiri district.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman confided to this reporter that on December 6th 2023 at around 9Pm at the above address, the suspect assaulted his mother from her bedroom using her own two walking sticks for yet unknown reasons.
According to Maate, while Bakeihahwenki was at her house together with her young grandchildren, the deceased attacked and started assaulting her.
The old woman raised an alarm that attracted the attention of her other son Karugaba Elias who was too assaulted by the suspect and after which he ran to the nearby coffee plantation and disappeared.
On the 7the December 2023 at around 3Pm while Karugaba and others prepared to take the victim to the hospital, they found her dead in the bed and the case was reported to Police.
Maate told the press that a case of murder was registered at Buyanja police station, scene visited and processed and that the body was taken to Rwakabengo health center III mortuary for postmortem examination.
