The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among has today September 22nd met with the South Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda Park Sung-Soo, who led a delegation of Members of Parliament from the Korean National Assembl and during the meeting, parliamentary diplomacy and bilateral cooperation dominated discussions.

Speaker Among commended the Korean government for the strategic development partnership with Uganda, especially in the health, education, water and sanitation sectors.

“We encourage you to remain good friends of Uganda. As we strengthen the parliamentary and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, let us also work together to invest more in the health sector for sustainable development,” Rt Hon Among said.

Ambassador Park Sung-Soo, proposed that the Ugandan government establishes an Embassy in the Republic of Korea, to enhance diplomatic relations to which Speaker Among assured to urgently follow up with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Uganda and South Korea have enjoyed a cordial diplomatic relationship since 1963 shortly after Uganda attained independence.
