The Police in Rukungiri District are hunting for suspects who allegedly lynched a 27 year old man identified as Allan Mwesigye a resident of Kacence Village in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, on allegation that he was found stealing a goat belonging to Edith Barangirana.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and named the suspects who are on the run as Moris and Oscar who are sons of Barangirana, Akampa son of Robert, Korumogo Betty and Baguma, the Vice Chairman Kacence and others not named.
Maate explained that it was reported that after being arrested, Mwesigye was lynched and immediately thereafter, set fire burning his body beyond recognition and at this point the complainant was informed and she reported the case at Nyakishenyi Police Station.
The scene of crime was visited, documented and processed, statements were recorded from witnesses and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Centre III Mortuary for postmortem examination and efforts to have all the suspects arrested are being made so that they can charged accordingly.
