KAMPALA- The speaker of parliament Anita Annet Among has directed the government to present the ministerial policy statement containing the budget framework paper before 15th March 2025 for the parliament committees to start processing the coming financial year budget.
Opening the parliament plenary on Tuesday the speaker warned the executive always to respect timelines stipulated in the constitution over the budget process.
The speaker also directed the opposition to present their alternative budget framework paper before 17th March 2025.
However, the commissioner of parliament, who is also the Nyendo Mukungwe area member of parliament Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba tasked the attorney general to respond to their commitment of the presenting the electoral reforms and whether they will be catered for in the budget framework paper.
Deputy Attorney Jackson Kafuzi asked for more time to liaise with the electoral commission to provide a detailed report.
Meanwhile, the speaker of parliament, Anita Annet Among has directed the members of parliament to go and declare their assets and liabilities to the Inspector general of government before they are caught by time.
