The Police in Kanungu District have registered a hit and run fatal road crash that claimed life of a yet to be identified female adult pedestrian.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the accident that took place today early morning at the junction to Matanda area along Kihihi – Rukungiri road in Kanungu district, that involved an unknown motor vehicle.
Maate said that the deceased was seemingly crossing the road going back home and the unknown motor vehicle which was heading towards Rukungiri knocked her dead on spot.
The Police were notified and the scene was visited and documented by District Trsffic Officer Kanungu Nsabiyera Herbert and team and the deceased’s body was conveyed to Kanungu Health Center IV Katate Mortuary for postmortem examination to be conducted this morning.
Maate has since appealed to the general public for any person with a missing the dear one should visit the Mortuary so that the person is identified and taken for a decent burial.
He also asked whoever has information pertaining the same accident to volunteer it to help the Police in tracking the vehicle involved.
