The Deputy Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4th Infantry Division, Brig Gen Jackson Kayanja, has lauded the outgoing and incoming officers of the Division’s Administration and Training offices for their unwavering professionalism and transparency.
While speaking on behalf of Division Commander Maj Gen Felix Busizoori during a formal handover and takeover ceremony, Brig Gen Kayanja praised the officers for their integrity and commitment to duty.
The ceremony saw Col Innocent Tukashaba hand over the role of Division Training Officer to Col Orombi Olaya, while Col Samson Nabeeta relinquished the position of Division Administration Officer to Col Godfrey Anang.
In his address to the new Division Administration Officer, Brig Gen Kayanja emphasised the need to maintain momentum by building on the foundations laid by predecessors and urged Col Anang to prioritise the welfare of troops and ensure administrative efficiency throughout the Division.
He further stressed the importance of adhering to standard operating procedures, particularly in ongoing field operations, noting that it will foster coordination and reduce misunderstandings among stakeholders.
Col Tukashaba, who is heading to the National Strategic Course at the National Defence College Uganda (NDC-U), expressed appreciation to the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with significant responsibilities and extended gratitude to the Division’s command for their consistent mentorship and guidance during his tenure.
Outgoing Administration Officer Col Nabeeta commended the spirit of teamwork and cooperation he experienced while in office and encouraged his successor to introduce fresh administrative approaches and technological innovations to further strengthen the Division.
The ceremony drew attendance from departmental heads, officers, and other ranks of the 4 Infantry Division.
In the same development, the Director of Human Resource Management of Land Forces, Brig Gen Mutaawe, has called for accountability, resilience, and innovation within the Directorate of Education, Sports and Culture of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
He made the remarks while presiding over the handover ceremony at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo, where outgoing Director Col Deus Taremwa officially handed over the office to incoming caretaker Director, Lt Col Patrick Mukundane.
Brig Gen Mutaawe praised Col Taremwa for his commitment and achievements during his tenure and also congratulated him on being selected to attend the National Defence College, noting that the experience would broaden his strategic outlook and further equip him to contribute to the Force’s development.
“You will return a changed person, ready to elevate the department to another level,” Brig Gen Mutaawe said.
He encouraged Lt Col Mukundane to embrace the role with a sense of full responsibility.
“This is a sensitive office. You must be accountable and foster innovation to meet the expectations of the leadership and the institution,” He added.
In his remarks, Col Taremwa thanked the UPDF leadership for the opportunity to serve and expressed appreciation to his colleagues for their teamwork and support while Lt Col Mukundane pledged to build on his predecessor’s work and maintain the department’s core mission.
“With the experience I have, I will continue to steer the boat in the right direction,” He said.
The ceremony was attended by Brig Gen Ali Kasawuli, Brig Gen Paul Kajuba, directors and other senior officers.
