Vendors of Kagadi daily market have decried the sorry state of the market. The market structures are dilapidated, others unroofed and drainage channels are blocked which leads to flooding when it rains.
The vendors voiced their concerns to the media at the market centre this afternoon.
Rukyarekere Sauya and Beroore Sesiriah,the vendors of food items decried congestion of the market stalls due to poor organisation and physical plan of the market. They say that the poor hygiene and harsh conditions such as sunshine and flooding have pushed away their customers.

The vendors have also decried heavy taxes imposed on their businesses by the town council authorities but not investing the high revenue proceeds into community service.
Ediita Kaahwa a fish monger says a market stall hiring fees goes up to 23,000Shs daily which does not support growth of small businesses.
They have hopes that the change in the town council leadership will help to address their concerns.

Edson Mbabazi the Chairperson Kagadi daily Market says that the current town council authority failed to harmonise with the Kagadi Self-help group the landlords of the market area to open room for the construction and upgrade of the market.
Alituha Brian a tenderer in Kagadi daily market says that the poor state of the market demotivates traders from paying taxes and urges the town council authority to upgrade the market.

Meanwhile, the Lc3 chairperson elect for Kagadi town council Kasaija William Mugenyi says the outgoing mayor Geoffrey Businge failed to lobby for compensation of the landlords of the market land from government to allow the construction of the market.
He says that under his leadership, the market stalls will be constructed to help traders operate smoothly as they wait for government to compensate the land owners-the Kagadi Self Help Group and establish a modern market.
