NEWS- The Police in Rwenzori East Region in Kasese District have on Friday morning launched an investigation into the Rukoki HC IV workers who are accused of neglecting duty which has resulted into the death of two patients at the facility.
On Friday morning, a 30 year old man identified as Amos Kule, a resident of Bunyaruguru-Katerera sub-county in Rubirizi district whom the caregivers claim was having yellow fever died from the facility after failing to get a health worker to attend to him.
Alice Muhindo Rwabiswa a resident of Kogere cell in Nyamwamba Division who was in the ward at the facility accuses health workers at the facility revealing that they were supposed to be on night duty but none turned up.
Muhindo also revealed that another patient who was a three year old baby died on Thursday at the facility from the same conditions of failure to be attended to by the health workers since they had not turned up for night duty.
This incident which happened on Friday forced concerned residents to storm the office of the district boss to file their complaint of workers health workers reporting late for work, others absconding from duty while others also ask for money for the services at the facility even when the facility is for the government.
Dr. Joy Muhindo the Kasese Municipal health officer who also rushed to the facility said that no one should ask for any coin at the facility since the government fully provides medical supplies.
The Kasese district boss Eriphazi Muhindi who sympathized with the bereaved families at the facility said that it’s a regrettable moment and noted that complaints from the community about health workers misconduct at the facility had been reported early at his office.
SP Luke Mbusa, the community liaison officer Rwenzori East Region who also doubles as the acting public relations officer says they have launched investigations about the matter and whoever is found guilty would face courts of law.
