NEWS- The Police in Ntungamo District have registered a murder case by stabbing of Bakasisa Constancio, a 109 year female adult, peasant resident of Kahunga 1 Cell, Kahunga Parish in Ntungamo district.

SP Samson Kasasira, told the press that Bakasisa is alleged to have been killed by her husband Babiiha Dominic, a 110 year male adult, peasant of the same residence.

It’s alleged that on 14th December 2023 at about 8Pm after supper, the suspect requested the deceased to join him in his bedroom but the deceased declined his request because she was feeling weak and had a cough. The two went to their separate rooms, the deceased going  with two of their great grandchildren.

In the morning of the 15th 2023 at about 7am, the suspect made an alarm saying he couldn’t die alone. When the great grand daughter aged 10 years opened the door to find out what the problem was, she saw the suspect armed with bent panga (Oruhabyo)before he ordered her to get out of the way.

SP Kasasira confided to this reporter that the suspect entered and immediately started stabbing the deceased multiple times,which forced the great grand child to run out of the house to seek help from the neighbours that responded.

 The neighbour on arrival found Bakasisa Constansio already dead and Babiiha Dominic locked himself in his bedroom,on opening he was found unconscious with a bottle of an Agro chemical beside him.

Police were thereafter informed and responded to the crime scene, rushing the suspect to the Itojo hospital for treatment, the crime scene was documented, recovering the murder weapon and exhibited.

The body was subjected to postmortem and according to preliminary investigations, the suspect and the deceased were a married couple staying in the same house but sleeping in separate rooms and the act of violence was as a result of denial of conjugal rights but inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.

Police condemns all acts of violence and encourages members of the public to always look to nonviolent means to resolve misunderstandings or seek help from relevant authorities.
