KABALE- Over Ugx 23 million, both cash and pledges, and 154 bags of cement have been collected for the construction of Kigezi Technical Institute in Rubanda District, under the auspices of Kabale Muslim District Council.
The fundraising ceremony took place at Karukara Playground in Hamurwa Town Council, Rubanda District, with the construction site located in Harutenga, along Kabale-Ruhija Road in Ikumba Sub County, Rubanda District.
Jacqueline Katabazi, Rubanda District Parliamentary Hopeful, commended Kabale Muslim District Council for initiating a technical institution in Rubanda.
She emphasized that the institution will provide employment opportunities for the local population. Katabazi contributed 1 million shillings and pledged to lobby for additional funds among her acquaintances.
Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba applauded Kabale Muslim District Council for selecting Rubanda as the site for the technical institute.
He noted that Rubanda previously had only one technical institute, and the new one will benefit not only the district but the entire nation.
Ampeire reminded the authorities of the land provided for a mosque in Karegyere Parish, Muko Sub County, Rubanda West, and pledged to allocate additional land after conducting surveys. He also committed to fulfilling all requests from the Kabale District Khadhi.
Hon. Prossy Akampurira, Rubanda District Woman MP who was represented by her husband Mbabazi Apollo, donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction.
Kabale Muslim District Kadhi Sheikh Kabu Lule praised Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba for his kindness towards Islam and other religions. Kabu Lule requested assistance with processing the land title.
Hon. Henery Musasizi Ariganyira, State Minister for Finance General Duties and Rubanda East MP, contributed 5 million shillings towards the construction.
He was represented by Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba as the chief guest.
