The Police in Kanungu District have registered a serious turned fatal road accident that occurred on the at Kitookye Trading center in Kanyantorogo Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident that involved a motorcycle registration number UGH 008F and a pedestrian.
The motor cycle was being ridden by a UPDF soldier identified as 34 year old Turyatunga Expedito and the deceased is 65 yeae old Kabananura Kasimu 65yrs old a resident of Runina lower in Kanyantorogo Town Council in Kanungu district.
Maate explained that it is alleged that, while the rider of the motorcycle from Kanyantorogo heading to Kitookye, on reaching the Kitookye Trading Center on high speed, he knocked the pedestrian who was critically injured and later died in Kigezi Community Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
The scene was visited by Corpal Mubiru Edward and officers from Kanyantorogo Police Station and a sketch plan waa drawn and documented and both victims were rushed to Kigezi Community Hospital for treatment but later on the pedestrian succumbed to injuries.
Maate said that a postmortem examination was done and the body handed over to the relatives for burial and motorcycle is parked at Kanyantorogo Police Station pending Inspector of Vehicles inspection.
