The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reported the outcome of his meeting with National Unity Platform supporters from Gomba District at his residence in Kisozi that was intended to discuss among other issues their points of discontent.
President Museveni noted that he discovered reluctance of beneficiaries of government socioeconomic empowerment initiatives including the Parish Development Model to assert their voice against irregularities in the management of PDM funds
Candidate Museveni told the people of Gomba District to keenly monitor the implementation of the Parish Development Model Initiative and other socioeconomic empowerment schemes to the extent of dismissing corrupt PDM officials and partaking of all PDM management committee meetings.
While campaigning at a rally at Nsambwe Primary School Play Grounds Gomba District, President Museveni described the Parish Development Model Initiative as inheritance by the NRM government to the citizenry which they must protect and directed for a special investigation into the disbursement of PDM initiative funds to address complaints related to the operationalization of the initiative
He tasked elected leaders and Resident District Commissioner in Gomba District to explain their inaction to corrupt vices and mismanagement of PDM funds and told cattle farmers in Gomba District to stop free range grazing system completely and embrace zero grazing for improved cattle production.
The President gave an example of Joseph Ijara a renowned zero grazing cattle farmer in Serere district and several others and noted that Farmers in cattle corridor need to embrace modern grazing strategies to boost their farm productivity as an enhancement of wealth creation and guided the people of Gomba District on sustainable land land utilisation and commercial enterprise selection for wealth creation.
President Museveni mentioned a number of new tarmac roads lined up for construction in his next term of office to extend Tarmac coverage in the area which include Kifampa – Bugomola – Kyamulibwa – Villa Maria road and Kanoni – Manyi – Mityana – Ssekanyonyi – Busunju road.
He however blamed opposition politicians in Parliament for failure to understand the prioritization approach to national development programs which he says has affected the rate of success for service delivery and advised the people of Gomba District to acknowledge the progressive implementation of development initiatives as guided in the NRM party manifesto and promised those threatening to cause anarchy in Uganda a lifetime regret if they ever attempt to.
Candidate Museveni noted that the prevailing peace and stability in the country is premised on unity and nonsectarian politics initiated by the NRM government after failure of previous regimes that lacked ideological clarity.
He said that Uganda’s peace and stability cannot be disrupted by opportunists and has vowed to resist their planned scheme and outlined the NRM job creation plan in the sectors of commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services and skills as he promised their enhancement and tasked the NRM fraternity in Gomba District to stop supporting leaning independent candidates because it confuses party supporters.
While speaking at the same rally, the NRM second National Vice Chairperson female Rt Hon Anita Among highlighted several development initiatives planned and implemented in Gomba District as she cautioned NRM leaders against endless political fights and the NRM vice Chairperson for Buganda Sub region Haruna Kasoro has hinted on land wrangles in Gomba District that seeks redress.
