Kagadi district Education department has reported a decline in the first-grade passes in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), despite relatively maintaining the overall pass rate.
During the presentation of the 2025 narrative report for 2025 PLE results for Kagadi district at the community hall, Omukwenda Julius Alinda, the district inspector of schools, announced that 362 candidates constituting 4.5% of the total candidates earned Division One in 2025,a slight decrease from 371 candidates(5.3%) in 2024.
The report further highlighted that 4136 candidates passed in Division Two,1781 candidates achieved Division Three while 862 were placed in Division Four.
However, a concerning 490 candidates failed the examination and were not graded and 158 candidates missed the exams. A total of 7789 candidates sat for the exams.
The overall best school in the district was Good Hope Foundation school Muhorro with 3.78 points and the worst performing school was Kiryane primary school in Kagadi town council with 29 candidates failing the PLE exams.
Omukwenda Alinda says the UNEB withheld results for the six schools over examination malpractices. He however declined to unveil the schools but says UNEB has met relevant stakeholders in its investigations into the malpractice cases.
He attributes poor performance in government aided schools to lack of coordination among the local authorities and the school managers.
