The National Resistance Movement leaders have today morning begun setting off from Kololo Independence Grounds for the Party’s Parliamentary retreat at National Leaders Institute in Kyankwanzi.
The leaders include newly elected Members of Parliament on the NRM ticket, Independent Members of Parliament aligned to the party, members of the Central Executive Committee and senior Secretariat officials.
According to the NRM Secretary General Hon Richard Todwong, the high-level retreat will focus on orienting legislators on the party’s legislative agenda, governance priorities, ideology, and cohesion strategies for the new parliamentary term.
Meanwhile the Democratic Party President and Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon Norbert Mao, has confirmed he will attend the ruling National Resistance Movement Parliamentary Caucus Leaders’ Retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi District.
His confirmation comes as Mao is seen as a strong contender for the position of the Speaker of Parliament at a retreat which traditionally viewed as an NRM-only gathering and President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address participants and Minister Mao’s attendance carries significant political implications in the context of Uganda’s post-2026 elections.
