The Police in Rukungiri District are hunting for suspects and investigating the mysterious alleged murder of a 63 yrs old woman identified as Mauda Kobusingye a resident of Kanyanya cell in Rwentondo Ward in Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate said that the incident took place last night July 8th 2025 at unknown time at her home.
It is reported thst the deceased was at her home doing her house work normally and in the night while at home with one Roland Akankwasa aged 14 years old an imbecile who stayed with the deceased alone in the house, an unidentified man emerged and got hold of the deceased neck and ordered the young boy to move out of which he did and moved to the home of the neighbour where he spent a night.
Maate explained that on coming back in the morning, Akankwasa found the deceased already stabbed with the knife and in a pool of blood that is when he made the alarm that attracted local residents and reported to Rukungiri Police Station.
Maate said that the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented, relevant statements were recorded and Police dog was introduced to the scene, but all in vain because the family members had mopped the bedroom and cleaned the deceased.
The dead body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center lll Mortuary for postmortem examination and the Police have appealed to anyone with information that can help lead to the perpetrators to volunteer it so that they arrested and charged accordingly.
