Radio Ankole management is gearing up for a grand celebration to mark 20 years since its inception. As the first district radio station, Radio Ankole is set to host a series of events, including tree planting initiatives for environmental conservation, entertainment, and football matches.

The celebration, dubbed “Ekijumeero kya Radio Ankole,” will take place on Saturday, July 5th, at Kyamate Playground in Ntungamo Municipality, Ntungamo District with a team of artistes led by Mansoor Ssemanda aka KING Saha, Winnie Nwagi, Shiddy Stylo, Sister Charity, Ray G, Truth 256, Medotex American, Rab J, Eng. Jovan among many others.

Elly Katahinga, the station manager, expressed gratitude to the founders, Mwesigwa Rukutana and the late Ms. Constance Kabonero, for their vision in establishing a project that continues to benefit employees and the community. He emphasized the station’s commitment to growth and improving listenership.

The anniversary event is described as a homecoming for the King of the West and parts of Rwanda. Tickets for the event are available at various price points: ordinary tickets are priced at 10,000 Ugandan Shillings, VIP tickets at 20,000 Ugandan Shillings, and tables range from 500,000 to 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings for Platinum tables, according to a tweet from Radio Ankole.

Madam Immaculate Kyomukama, head of marketing, highlighted the resource mobilization efforts, stating that the event will attract numerous food vendors looking to capitalize on the opportunity.

Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana, head of Rukutana and Advocates, one of the sponsors and directors of Radio Ankole, commended the radio staff for their dedication to running the station effectively. Influencer Perez Rumanzi encouraged vendors to seize the chance to set up stalls and earn from the anticipated turnout.
