NEWS– Kasese district has been named the Parish Development Model hub for the Rwenzori Sub-Region after performing better than other Local Governments that are located within the sub region.
Eriab Begumya Ntarwete, the Deputy District Chief Administrative Officer made the revelation today afternoon during a parish development model stake holders’ meeting that was aiming at preparing the SACCOs leaders and other implementers for second disbursements.
The meeting which was organized by the office of the CAO was also aiming at reminding the key players in the PDM program of their key responsibilities it was held at the District Multipurpose hall.
According to Mr. Ntarwete, Kasese District in the first phase disbursed 22billions to the 197 parish development model SACCOs and 80% of them were progressing despite of a few challenges.
Now that government has already disbursed another 50millions to each parish waiting to be given to the beneficiaries, the deputy CAO warned the Parish development model committees to critically follow the right procedures while giving money to the people, avoid bribes and misusing the offices.
He noted that despite the fact that Kasese District has been selected a PDM hub, his office was still receiving complaints of corrupt leaders including committee members and some parish chiefs whom he says his office is investigating for administrative actions.
Mr. Julius Baluku the District PDM focal person asked the Parish development model committees to stick to the procedures, play their responsibilities and observe transparency while executing their duties.
Mr. Girivazio Monday Bwambale the Kasese District secretary for social services, who represented the District chairperson Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, noted that some of the sub-counties under investigations for the PDM money include Kisinga town council, Mpondwe Lhubiriha town council, L. Katwe Sub-county, Mahango sub-county and Kisinga sub-county among others.
