NTUNGAMO– The mob in Murambi cell, Katungamo parish, Rugarama Sub county-Rushenyi on Tuesday April 1st 2025 lynched and burnt the body of a suspected motorcycle thief to ashes.
It is alleged that one known “boy” a son of Bebwa Omwitira by tribe of the above address was found with a missing motorcycle; the mob lynched and burnt him to ashes near Katungamo weekly market.
According to sources from scene of crime, a one known as boy has been terrorizing the area stealing people’s belongings like goats, motorcycles among others.
A source adds that after the residents landed on him with the stolen motorcycle, they lynched him and poured Petro on him with the help of dry grasses and fire woods to incinerate him.
By press time police was not yet issue a statement about the incident.
In other news, the Police in Bushenyi district are investigating an accident that occurred on April 2, 2025, at St. Kaggwa in the Central Division of Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, leaving one person injured.
The accident involved a silver Toyota Premio registration number UBG 945Q and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UFC 060E.
According to reports, on Tuesday at around 2:00 PM, the motor vehicle was traveling from Ishaka to Bushenyi when the motorcycle made an abrupt U-turn in front of it. The motorcycle was struck by the rear tire of the Toyota, resulting in damage to the car’s right headlamp.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that the motorcycle rider was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. Details regarding the rider’s identity have not been established at this time.
Police are assessing the situation and indicated that the cause of the accident appears to be reckless driving.
