The Police in Rukungiri have arrested four suspects allegedly for causing the death of a 19th year old Wase Diana as a result of assault.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the incident took place at Nyarushanje Stage Cell in  Ibanda Parish in Nyarushanje Sub-county in Rukungiri District. 

Maate identified the suspects as 18 year old Elikoze Zuwaheze, Mutesi Zane aged 17 years, Muhawenimana Kolodina aged 19 years and Omutono Owase Pasikalina aged 19 years, all these are bar attendants and Rwanda nationals but residents of Nyarushanje Trading Centre.

It is alleged that the suspects together with the deceased while operating a bar of Kashaija when they wanted to smoke, asked for the match box that was kept with the deceased, instead she became violent and they developed a fight where they ended up hitting  her around the neck and she fainted and became unconscious

The deceased was rushed to St Andrews Health Center in Nyarushanje Trading Center and was later referred to Kisizi Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Maate said that the the Police were alerted at the Rubabo Police Station, and the suspects were immediately arrested, and Rukungiri Central Police Station was notified, the crime scene was visited, processed and investigations commenced and upon completion of which, the suspects are to be arraigned before courts of law to be charged accordingly.

Relatedly, the Police in Kanungu District are investigating mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of a 22 year old man identified as James Agaba a resident of Kayenje Village in Mashaku Parish in Nyamirama Sub-county, whose lifeless body was yesterday discovered lying under the tree at Mukabasa Village in Mashaku Parish with injuries on the face and marks around the neck.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said that it’s alleged that, the deceased left home the previous evening and  informed his wife Ashaba Blair that he was going for coffee milling Katsigazi Coffee Milling Factory and  he didn’t return back home, till in the following morning when the wife was informed of  her husband’s body lying under the tree.

The Police at Nyamirama were informed, the scene of crime was visited with a sniffer dog was introduced and it tracked up to the bar of  Niwagaba Rumecho who was arrested to help in investigations.
