Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Ambrose Amanyire Mwesigye has urged Youth Leaders across the district to embrace unity, discipline and teamwork as they prepare to play a key role in the country’s development and upcoming political season.
RDC Amanyire Mwesigye made the remarks yesterday afternoon during a Youth Leaders’ Orientation meeting held at the Kanungu District Headquarters hall.The meeting brought together leaders from the youth league and youth council of various sub-counties.
In his address, the RDC thanked the youth leaders for responding positively to the invitation, noting that the meeting was organized that the purpose of the gathering was to strengthen cooperation among the young leaders and build a common task force that can effectively rally behind government programs.
He encouraged the youth to remain mindful of the people who elected them to serve with dignity and to embrace unity of purpose and also advised them to avoid vulgar language, respect their colleagues and demonstrate good conduct as role models for the communities they represent.
The Kanungu District Youth Council Chairperson Dr Brain Tumwakyire, applauded the RDC for providing a platform for the young leaders to share ideas.He pledged collaboration with the RDC’s office, saying such partnerships would help the youth align their activities with national development goals.
Deputy RDC Gad Ahimbisibwe Rugaju, while addressing the meeting, reminded the youth that they are key stake holders as the country heads towards the 2026 general elections.He urged them to rally behind President Yoweri Museveni and challenged them to focus on socio- economic transformation by generating viable proposals that could attract government support programs.
Among the invited guests was Kwesiga Barigye praised who praised the Resident District Commissioner Office for convening the meeting describing it as the first of it’s kind for youth leaders in the district and urged them to concentrate on developing innovative ideas that would uplift them instead of wasting time on unproductive rivalries.
