NKD Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe

The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese The  Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has inauguration the newly formed North Kigezi Diocese – Kampala Fellowship (NKD – KF) Management Committee that is expected to coordinate the Diocese pastoral work in Kampala.

The event took place October 12th 2025 at All Saints Church Kampala and was preceeded by a Holy Communion Seevice that was presided over by the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe and was characterised by prayer and worship.

The Bishop hailed all the Christians who attended the event and said that such Fellowship was important because it inspires many and revives spiritual milestone amongst them.

The Bishop who delivered an inspiring sermon, leveraging on the intonation, “seeking first the kingdom of God, and all other things shall be added unto you”

Bishop Asiimwe highlighted a number or remarkable achievements that his leadership has brought to the North Kigezi Diocese in the last 2 years he has been the Bishop and expressed gratitude to all who have always supported the development projects in the Diocese.

The event was attended by over 700 Christians living and working in Kampala Metropolitan Area who forms the Chapter.

During the event, the new North Kigezi Diocese Kampala Fellowship Management Committee headed by the Commissioner General of Prisons Dr Canon Johnson Byabasheija was sworn in to serve in that position for the next four years. It also has Minister Jim Katugugu Muhwezi as Patron and Canon Jolly Babirukamu as Advisor.

Dr Byabasheija is deputised by Canon Alice Turyamureeba, while Dick Muhwezi is the Secretary, Canon Frank Katusiime is the Treasurer and Counsel Isaac Atukunda is the Publicity Secretary and the Diocesan Chancellor is an Ex-official.

These members will have Canon Suzan Muhwezi, Canon Boaz Mategyero, Hon Winnnie Babihuga, Canon Benson Turamye and Ben Kavuya as Executive Committee Members.

Other members of the committee include Musinguzi Wycliffe representing Kashenyi Archdeaconry, Hon Mary Kamugisha from Kyamakanda, Dr Noreda Kiremire from Bwanga, Canon Jotham Tugumisirize from Bwambara, Jackson Mucunguzi from Kakinga Archideconary, Col Amos Rutaremwa from Nyakisoroza and Herbert Akampwera from Buhunga Archideconary.

Others are Canon Chris Tumusiime representing Kyabugashe Archideconary, Canon Eron Kazoora from Nyakagyeme, Ms Irene Kinayenzire from Rujumbura Archideconary, Canon Lydia Ibingira representing the Deanary, Canon Medard Mwesigwa from Rubirizi Archideconary, Canon Absolom Bwesigye from Nyabitete and Canon Dr Andrew Bashaija from Bugangari Archideconary.

The Committee also has members representing special interest groups and these include Rev Can Evatt Mugarura representing the Clergy, Mrs Mary Barahukwa representing the Women, Martin Mwambutsya representing the professionals, Steven Kanyonyi representing the Pastors Kids, Charles Mustafa Rugumba representing the business community, Ms Taranta Martha representing the Youth while Jackson Mucunguzi in charge of Security.
