The Police in Mbarara City through a joint Intelligence led operation yesterday intecepted able 10 buses that included Tausi buses, KR Coaches, Abapakasi buses, Jamah Express and Savanah bus carrying 823 suspected trafficked persons.
The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira told journalists that the trafficked persons included 441 male and 376 female at the Biharwe Police checkpoint last night and the buses were escorted back to Mbarara Central Police Station and impounded.
Kasaasira revealed that on interrogation the victims revealed that they were lured by agents of Alliance in Motion Global from different parts of the country in pretext of finding them jobs in Mbarara City at a fee of upto Ugx 1.5 million per person.
The victims were on their way to Kampala City for an annual Alliance in Motion Global meeting that was being held yesterday at Freedom City Building along Entebbe Road but the victims were cautioned and released to go back to their homes as investigations into the matter continue.
