Police in Ntungamo District have arrested a 36 year old man identified asTayebwa Rodgers who is an Agricultural Officer of Rukoni and Rwoho Town Council in connection with the murder of his wife Akampurira Racheal.
At the time of her death, Akampurira who was a Town Agent of Rukiga Central ward Mparo Town Council in Rukiga District was allegedly murdered on the night of 9th February 2026.
The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira told journalists that it is alleged that the murder took place on the fateful night at Omungyenyi – Katinda Bridge in Kyamugashe Rwemiyaga Ward Kakukuru – Rwenanura Town Council while the two were riding on a motorcycle to Rubaare Town Council.
It is alleged that the two were attacked by unknown individuals with sticks beating Racheal to death while her husband managed to escape to get help during the attack while the motorcycle and other properties were robbed according to the first report made by the husband.
Police responded to scene and retrieved the body of the deceased from underneath the bridge culverts and took it to Itojo Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Kasasira explained that during investagtions it was discovered that the couple have lived with domestic misunderstanding for a while and on examining the husband’s body, he had no injuries as he alleged.
Kasasira confirmed that Tayebwa has been arrested to help Police with investigations for any possible involvement in the murder of his wife and robbery of property.
