STORM IS OVER: Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu set to address Christians today after presidential greenlight on reopening churches

The Archbishop of the Church Of Uganda, Most Rev Dr Steven Samuel Kazimba Mugalu has called upon Christians to avoid engaging in monetary and hatred- based politics saying such practices destroy unity and peace among believers.

While delivering his message at St Andrews Kihiihi Archdeaconry Church Of Uganda – Kanungu District, the Archbishop emphasized that voters should not allow themselves to be bribed to elect leaders, nor should they hate or fight others because of political differences.

Before presiding over a service, the Archbishop laid a foundation stone for the new church that is still under construction and planted a tree in the compound as a symbol of preserving God’s creation.

In his sermon, he called on Christians to embrace for forgiveness, prayer and mutual support for their Ministers explaining that these values fall under the three pillars of the Church which include Ministry to God, Ministry to the world and Ministry to one another and also cautioned against stealing and idleness, urging believers to work hard, eat from their own labor and put Jesus at the centre of their lives.

The Bishop of Kinkizi Diocese Rt Rev Dan Zoreka, also addressed the congregation, reminding christians that everything belongs to God advising them out to withhold their resources from the Church but to use their blessings in service to Him.

Kanungu District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for visiting St.Andrews and encouraged Christians to live according to the message he had preached and the service attracted a large crowd including the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, the NRM District Chairman, Local clergy and Christians from across the district.

Meanwhile Archbishop Dr Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu has called upon Christians to remain rooted in the three key pillars of Gospel- grace, growth and goodness.

Archbishop made the appeal on Saturday afternoon while presiding over the thanksgiving service for the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka and wife Florah Zoreka at St Peters Cathedral Nyakatare in Kanungu District, where hwere they celebrated 25 years of marriage.

The Archbishop congratulated the couple for their milestone, noting that marriage is a gift that requires prayer, patience, and faithfulness and encouraged Bishop Zoreka to continue nurturing his marriage, reminding christians that marriage is not merely a legal bond but also  a journey of love, sacrifice and mutual respect.

The Bishop Zoreka family were joined by family, clergy and christians to renew the vows they first made on 30th August 2000.

Former Prime Minister Rt Hon Amama Mbabazi who was the guest of honor warmly congratulated the couple on their Silver Jubilee, describing 25 years in marriage as a remarkable achievements and also praised Bishop Zoreka for his humility, wisdom and patience in leading the diocese and contributed Ugx 5 million towards the completion of the Cathedrals construction.

In his remarks, the Bishop of Kinkizi Diocese Rt Rev Dan Zoreka thanked God for sustaining his marriage and ministry, appreciating christians from Kinkizi Diocese and beyond for their overwhelming support and acknowledged contributions in prayer, financial support and presence at the celebration and commended government and district leaders for their co-operation with the diocese.

The Head of Laity in Kinkizi Diocese, Canon Benon Kuringamba, applauded Bishop Zoreka for being a model of faith and commitment and also recognized the late Dr James Musinguzi Garuga for his significant contribution towards the roofing of St Peters cathedral and expressed hope that the diocese will one day celebrate the Bishop’s golden Jubilee.
