NEWS- Kasese Municipal council authorities have given an ultimatum of up to June this year to all investors in the Kasese Industrial park to have developed their sites or their contracts be cancelled.

The decision was reached on Wednesday morning in the stakeholders meeting held at Kasese Municipality council hall in Kasese town which was aiming to know why the project which was launched in 2017 only has 25% of the investors at the ground.

The project which is operating on 217 acres of land has now sixteen companies which were registered but only four started operating and twelve have since disappeared.

Godfery Bwambale the Municipality principal commercial officer says In March last year, Kasese received Ugx 4 billion for construction of roads, power extension and water connection to the park located in Kahokya cell central division in Kasese Municipality which has been done.

He revealed that the delay for some investors to show up at their different sites may be because of the post COVID-19 effects.

The Kasese Municipality Mayor Mr. Chance Kahindo says they have agreed with stakeholders that any investor failing to develop their sites by June this year, the municipality would re advertise those sites.

According to Mr. Kahindo the aim of the industrial park was established to add value to the locally produced products including agricultural products.
