NTUNGAMO- The south Ankole diocesan Bishop Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe has asked students of Mutunyera high school Kitunga to wear a helmet of salvation if they are to have a prestigious future.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe made the remarks on October 8, 2024, during his address at the confirmation and dedication service for S.4 and S6 students of Muntuyera High School, Kitunga, in Rwashamaire Town Council, Ntungamo District.
The Bishop urged students awaiting their Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) exams to rely on the knowledge and skills they have acquired and avoid the temptation to engage in malpractice.
He reassured candidates to use the remaining time appropriately to succeed in their final exams where he advised them to remain disciplined, calm, and focused, emphasizing them to desist from anything that may disrupt or hinder their performance.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe appreciated Mr. Joseph Muganga the school head teacher who is soon retiring for the good work he has done together with his staff and school stakeholders for revamping the school which has come back on track.
Lilian Ahimbisibwe, wife of Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe, expressed concern about the declining number of men in society and called for greater attention to the boy child, emphasizing the importance of gender balance in the future explaining that the current national census shows that females are more than males.
Mrs Jenipher Mwesigwa the former head teacher Bweranyangi girls high school who is currently serving as chairperson Board of governors Mutunyera high school and Cephas Turyabahika, the PTA Chairperson, commended the head teacher, Mr. Joseph Muganga, for his efforts in improving student enrollment and expressed confidence in the upcoming exam results, noting the school’s consistency in academic excellence.
Twine Joseph Muganga, the head teacher, thanked Bishop Nathan for his positive keen interest in the school and for recommending developmental oriented Board of governors’ members who have helped them in making the school strong again.
Muganga asked the bishop to kindly lobby for them from the government to renovate the school structures especially the dormitories and aging classrooms.
Muganga further thanked him for dedicating the students adding that as teachers they have done their part in imparting knowledge to students whom they have many hopes in that they will perform better in the forthcoming exams.
Noble Namanya, a former head prefect and Akarwanahona Armstrong on behalf of students praised the head teacher’s leadership and the teachers’ dedication for providing dependable and effective lessons which will make them excel in exams.
Forty students were confirmed into the Anglican faith during the service, and the UNEB exams are set to begin on Friday, October 11, 2024, with the briefing session.
Currently the school has an enrollment of 1055, the largest class is S 2 with 208 students and S5 with 200 students.
