NEWS- Basajjabalaba Secondary School has emerged one of the best performers in the just released UACE examinations.

The 2023 UACE results were released on Thursday 7th March 2024 and at least 73.7% students passed the examination and qualified to join Universities and other higher class institutions.

It means out of students who sat for the examination, 108,492candidates equivalent to 99.1% met qualifications for the UACE certificate and 80,543 are eligible for University admission.

By record, this year’s performance marks the highest number of students qualifying for University within a single time, nearly matching the total population of enrollment in public universities recorded in 2019 which stood at 90,300 students. Approximately 4,000 students will receive government funded scholarships as per results.

Our reporter visited Basajjabalaba Secondary School in Ishaka town, Bushenyi district where he found the school administration, learners and parents celebrating excellence in last year’s examination.

Out of 55 students who sat for the examination, 54 passed with best points with the best learner posting 17 points in HIK/ICT. Of the 2023 UACE candidates, 29 were boys while 26 were girls.

We spoke to Madam Nakalanzi Zamula Headteacher Basajjabalaba Secondary School who attributed the good performance to teachers’ hard work and parents who have been supportive towards the school’s academic programs.
