Christians from various denominations have today thronged places of worship to commemorate the Women’s World Day of Prayer.
The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian lay women’s initiative and it is celebrated annually on the first Friday in March as part of celebration to mark the women’s week leading to international women’s day celebration on March 8th.
In Ntungamo District, the South Ankole Diocese marked Women’s World Day of Prayer at Kyamate playground Ntungamo Municipality under the theme “Anchored in Christ for unity, stability and peace {EPH 2:14-17}.
Speaking at the occasion, Maama Lillian Ahimbisibwe a wife to South Ankole Diocesan Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe challenged general public to refocus on family building values noting that family is basic unit of society but it has faced many challenges which need devoted and joint prayers for unity and peace in families and country at large.
Maama Lillian Ahimbisibwe noted that the family is on attack and it is high time to advocate for unity and mutual respect amongst family members if the development is to flourish.
She appealed to all women to always exercise their human rights without despising their husbands saying that a woman with noble character should be submissive and preserve human dignity.
Bashabeire Eva Turyamureeba from West Ankole Diocese advised women to be prayer warriors and stand firm in faith as the only way to succeed in marriages.
Rev John Katunzi from West Ankole Diocese asked believers to be faithful to their partners and work hard for the development of their families until death departs them.
The South Ankole Diocesan Mothers’ Union president Rebeca Lubega noted that this day ignites all women to pray for their families, children and the country.
