KAMPALA- The  Church of Uganda is set to hold is Second Provincial Prayer Convention from 20th to 23rd November 2024, at Uganda Martyrs Anglican Site in Namugongo under the theme, “Conforming to the truth of God’s word, not the patterns of the world world” aa from Romans 12:1-2.

Last year’s Provincial Prayer Convention took place from 22nd to 25th November 2023 at Uganda Martyrs Anglican Site in Namugongo under the theme, “To whom shall we go?” John 6:68.

While addressing journalists at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe today morning, the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu said that the current state of the nation needs to be put to God in prayer for his intervention.

“It’s of great importance at a time like this, when we are challenged by the Marriage Bill, Coffee Bill, poverty, domestic violence, liberalism, nudity among young ones, youth unemployment and homosexuality to come to the place of prayer and plead for the intervention of the Lord.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.

Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu said that this years convention gives an opportunity to the Church, nation and families to come together at the feet of Jesus for Prayer, spiritual renewal, mediation, transformation and revival.

” Who Knows what God can do when we pray as a nation?”. He asked.

According to Archbishop Kaziimba, 20th November isscheduled for Youths and students and appealed to all church founded schools and private schools to send youth to the Convention so that God can preserve their Generation.

He noted that attendance is free of charge and that over 150 participants are expected from every Diocese and appealed to Bishops, Clergy, Lay Readers, Heads of laity, individuals, companies to stand with the Directorate of mission and support this convention financially and also encourage Christians to attend.

While speaking at the same press briefing, the Director of Mission and Outreach Rev Simon Peter Ddembe Lya Yesu, noted that the Directorate has been diligently preparing for this event, ensuring all necessary arrangements regarding security and health are in place. 

“In all our weekly meetings, we have been having representatives from Security and they have assured us that they will deploy their officers both in uniform and covert. Health emergency teams will be on-site to address any health-related concerns.” Rev. Ddembe Lya Yesu said.

He encouraged all attendees to bring their Bibles, as they intend to make full use of them during the Convention since many facilitators are renowned Bible expositors.

A number of preachers and Bible expositors, including Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba, Bishop Moses Banja, Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe, Bishop Paul Samson Naimanhye, Bishop Kosea Odongo, The Very Rev Canon Dr Rebecca Nyegenye, Rev Dr Lydia Kitayimbwa, Rev Esmond Sserunjoji, Rev Hillary Jaffu, and many others, will be leading in Bible exposition, worship and teaching.

During the Press briefing, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu introduced a team from Great Truth including Rev Dr Ben Dean, the Content Director and Rev Mark O’Donoghue, the Strategy Director who are in the Country to train Clergy in writing and recording high quality theological content to enable Christians enjoy reading the Bible.
