RUBANDA- The Minister of State for Finance in Charge of General Duties Hon Henry Musasizi Aliganyira has encouraged students to undertake courses that give them skills relevant for the job market in order to avoid job hunting expeditions.

Minister Musasizi said this today while speaking as the Guest of Honor at the graduation ceremony of Rubanda Technical Institute in Rubanda District where he said that currently jobs are in agro processing, manufacturing, Hotels Banks, Tourism, Science and Technology.

Min Musasizi asked Parents to always question the the choices made by their children enrolling for higher education studies to know how relevant that degree will be in today’s competitive market.

He gave an example of a graduate of building and construction from a technical institution who starts earning as Ugx 20,000 a day, which totals to up to Ugx 600,000 a month which some degree holders can not earn.

The Principal Rubanda Technical Institute, Rev Fr Isaac Turinawe used today’s opportunity to recognize the contribution of Rubanda District Local Government led by the Chairman Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba to the School.

“We have received 120 pre-painted iron sheets from the District to roof a building under construction, and I want to thank the District Chairman Kasyaba for this significant support” Fr Turinawe said.

He said that the iron sheets will be used to roof the building under construction, worth Ugx 113 million that will accommodate the skilling workshop for tailoring and knitting students.

The Rubanda District Speaker Mary Waguma Tushemereirwe revealed that the Youths graduating from Skilling institutions are being given priority consideration under the PDM and Emyooga Programs.

“To the graduates from this Technical School, please look out for opportunities to receive capital from these programs. In PDM there’s  a percentage allocated  for the Youths, and I would like you to go and claim it after here.” She said.

The event was attended by religious leaders, political leaders and the local residents.
