The community members are alleging that most families in Nyakiyumbu and Munkunyu sub-counties are grappling with domestic violence case including early pregnancies, marriages, rape and defilement among others.

Mr. Johnson Muhindo and Grace Biira some of the residents in the area say the reason to why such cases have dominated their sub-counties is that parents have not played their full responsibilities, some parents negotiate with their in-laws whenever their young girls are violated.

The recent report of Uganda Bureau of Statistics indicates that Physical violence among women and girls aged 10-59 is highest in Hima Town Council at. 34% and lowest in Kitholhu Sub County at 4% of Kasese District.

Nyangoma Sharon the coordinator at Kasese Youth link for Development noted that some young girls have fallen into the trap of early marriages and pregnancies because they beg money from men and in return they go into love affairs with them eventually they get pregnant.

To solve the challenge, Nyangoma says, school going children should focus on their studies and those who are no longer schooling be enrolled for skilling like tailoring and saloon management as one way to enhance their economy.
