Deputy Speaker Tayebwa in Plenary

KAMPALA– Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has directed the parliamentary Committee on Energy to investigate reports of irregular billing by Yaka electric meters.

The directive follows a formal complaint to parliament by the Buzaya  county legislator Martin Muzaale that Yaka electric meters are over billing people’s energy consumption amidst the high charges for electricity.

Hon. Muzaale notes that it’s unacceptable to see that standards bodies in the country are looking on as Ugandans are being exploited by the electricity supplier in the current difficult economic times.

The legislator also called for scraping of service charges by electricity meter suppliers so that Ugandans enjoy their country at a lesser epense.
