KAMPALA – With  a common language and communication being a key pillar in this diverse world. There is the need to learn and embrace multilingualism as a cornerstone for trade , research , culture  and diversity.

With  this, the International University of East Africa ( IUEA )  launched the French Language Center over the weekend as a hub for  students, the outside world and it’s partners inorder to foster and promote the language at full throttle.

Speaking at the launch, Prof Emeka  Akaezuwa, Vice Chancellor , IUEA welcomed the guests and thanked the organizers for pulling off a great function of that manner.

” We are solidly behind teaching French and the language is very rich and France is the  land of great art , culture and I tell students to understand culture in a global world. French is language of art, diplomacy , trade , education and may facets. We also have have students from various countries  from Africa and other countries that speak French. Africa is composer of many cultures and that our goal is to have students who can co – exist with the rest”. Said Prof.Emeka.

He also added that since they are an innovative institution they are going see to how to integrate Artificial Intelligence into the  learning of the  French Language.

Dr. Enoch Sebuyungo, who represented  the Association  of Teachers of French in Uganda ( APFO)  congratulated the students  for organizing the event with the support of the University.

” This an International University because  you are supporting the  French language which is spoken widely across the globe. I did my PhD in French and I tell the students that languages open doors,  enrich their lives for great opportunities. I encourage the students to embrace French and other languages for diplomacy, research  and other aspects “. Dr. Sebuyungo Said.

Constar  Kagu, a member of the French Club at IUEA said that they are also focusing on how they  can make the language work for them by earning a living through ” Ie  Francais de la bouche, la poche ” meaning one should think of avenues of turning the French language spoken to making money for their pockets.

To create a subtle moment, there was also a fashion run and acts performances from the students and the most notable one was the opera show case.
