NEWS- The fallen Kagadi district District Education Officer (DEO) late Bartholomew Bukenya has been hailed for his unwavering integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the teaching profession.
The 59-year-old educationist succumbed to lung cancer that he had been battling for many years, on Wednesday morning, April 9, 2025, at Three Rivers Cancer Centre in Kampala where he had been undergoing treatment.
Late Bukenya was laid to rest last evening in Nyakarongo cell, Kiraba ward Kagadi town council in Kagadi district.
Politicians, religious leaders and civil servants described Bukenya’s service as one that promoted unity, hard work, and performance-oriented values among teachers.
The Buyaga East MP Eric Musana eulogized late Bukenya as an education icon and a development expert in this region.

The Kagadi District deputy CAO Vincent Kyaligonza says late Bukenya was professional in executing his duties, good time manger and obedient civil servant, which helped him to pass through the ranks from a classroom teacher to the district education officer.

In his eulogy, the Kagadi district Lc5 chairman Ndibwami B Yosia says efforts to save the life of the deceased became fruitless as his condition continued to deteriorate at the health facilities.
He commended late Bukenya for mentoring many educators also acknowledged the late’s contribution to the education sector.
