MUKONO- On Saturday I woke up to very sad news about the S.3 Seeta High student, Elishamah Ssesanga who allegedly committed suicide, however,
let’s not rush to post things without facts! First and foremost this boy might have been killed!
As per phone conversation with one of his close family members, he was found lying down in the dormitory unconscious and rushed to hospital, reaching there he was declared dead with multiple blood clots as per postmortem report!
The boy was known an active anti-homosexual activist and one day, he was intimidated by some of the people in the group at their school, so recently he woke up very weak and ill, a certain student approached him and told him to get Ugx 2 million for the cure or else he was going to die or his family spent Ugx 30 million plus to get the cure! So he called his father and explained to him everything!
His Dad, Ssesaazi Robert, a wealthy businessman didn’t take him serious till his boy died! Go to the school and ask, the boy didn’t commit suicide as portrayed!
Police and school administration are trying to get on top of this with investigations on that group of homosexuals in the school and i have been informed that previously another kid died in the same manner! this very term at the same school.
This tragic incident has brought back memories of a similar ordeal my relative’s son faced at Kings College Buddo who was brutally attacked by fellow students and they attempted to murder him, but he miraculously defended himself and escaped.
The trauma didn’t end there, the perpetrators smeared his reputation with false stories in the press, and his mother was subjected to vicious attacks through propaganda articles.
Let’s not rush to judgment, especially when it comes to our children and as parents, we need to create a safe space for our kids to open up to us about their struggles and challenges.
Let’s listen to them without being dismissive or judgmental as we owe it to our children to be their rock, their confidants and their advocates.
But I also want to sound a warning to all parents: there’s a growing concern about student-on-student violence in our schools that has left many murdered.
It’s a vice that’s been swept under the rug for far too long, and it’s time we confront it head-on and what’s even more disturbing is that some teachers are allegedly involved in these vices, using their positions of authority to orchestrate and cover up these heinous acts.
They overstay at these schools, perpetuating a culture of fear, intimidation and violence.
We need to demand more from our schools, from the administration to the teachers, to ensure our children’s safety and well-being. We need to hold accountable those teachers who are complicit in these vices and work towards creating a safe and inclusive environment for our children.
To the parents of the deceased Seeta High School student, I offer my deepest condolences and may the truth behind your son’s tragic death be revealed, and may justice be served.
Let’s stand together as a community to support each other and demand a safe and inclusive environment for our children.
