NTUNGAMO- The deputy RDC Ntungamo Atuhaire Rose Mary has hailed the government of NRM for involving women in leadership which has enabled them to spur the development of families and the country at large.
Deputy RDC Atuhaire is now calling women to be good stewards since they have been trusted with leadership skills down from kitchen to the table of decision makers.
She asked leaders to mobilize the general public to embrace government programs such as PDM, UWEP, Youth livelihood and Emyooga.
She made remarks today during the Western Division budget conference 2024/2025 financial year held in Division Council Hall Ntungamo municipality.
Madam Atuhaire however cautioned them against mismanaging government programs saying that the office of the RDC will not hesitate to be arrested.
Deputy RDC Atuhaire encouraged village chairpersons to hold security meetings and register all casual laborers ahead of end of year festivities.
The mayor Ntungamo municipality Jacob Kafureeka appealed to political and civil leaders to always engage all stakeholders in budget processing as the only way to extend service delivery which is pro people.
Kafureeka said this will help citizens to express their opinion based on their communities and thanked the leadership of Western division led by Jacob Binyerere and Semugabi Shem for work done in the Division’s division.
The chairman LCIII Western Division Jacob Binyerere commended the Division council headed by speaker Cryril Tibagyerwagye and technical staff for cooperation which has enabled the division to realize its achievements.
Binyerere pointed out some challenges including poor road network due to cutting of road funds.
However, he encouraged the general public to engage in communal work (burungi bwensi) while the issue is being rectified.
The senior assistant town clerk Western Division Semugabi Shem highlighted the achievements made in the year 2023/2024 including revenue collection of over UGX 94M and what will be done 2024/2025.
Semugabi noted that in the year 2024/2025 the Division prioritized the following extension of water, electricity, drainage channels and installation of security lights.
Councilor for Western Division Juliet Mpamize Buriiku tasked leaders to fulfill the priorities for better service delivery to the communities.
The sessions were chaired by councilor Jenifer Sentongo and speaker Cyril Tibagyerwagye among others.
