RUBIRIZI- Uganda School heads have been challenged to love their profession if they always want better results.
This was sounded by Mr. Dembe Robert Jose Chairperson Rubirizi Headteachers Association (ASSHU) who was speaking as a chief guest during the association’s end of year meeting and party at KIBZ restaurant in Katunguru, Rubirizi district on Saturday 9th December 2023.
Dembe Robert who is also the Headteacher Kicwamba High School also in Rubirizi said if his fellows love their work and profession, they can easily solve the challenges they face while executing their duties despite difficult environments.
The Chairperson ASSHU asked headteachers to emphasize team work, exhibit good working relationships with teachers, parents and learners as well as observing self discipline so that their work can be eased.
He further challenged headteachers to focus much on physical activities including getting involved in sports like football, athletics, Music, Dance and Drama so that together with their students can always maintain fresh minds for better performance in schools.
On the same function, Tumuramye Alex Mabwindi, the Headteacher Ndekye Secondary School thanked fellows for doing good work and tasked them to always follow up their teachers and learners even in holiday season to ensure that they are safe for the next term.
“We need to be serious because some teachers go on holidays and will again think of teaching on the first day of opening next term. So we need to know what they are doing out there. For learners, let’s know if they are revising because if they keep books yet most of them have been promoted to new classes, that’s a real storm”, he explained.
The meeting was attended by Rubirizi district Secondary School headteachers and their deputies, political leaders, other education stake holders including district officials among others and it came barely 2 weeks after the closure of 3rd term for the academic year 2023.
