Heartland Coffee finds grand entry into South Korean shops

Heartland coffee, specially grown in Rukungiri District, has become synergistic by crossing borders and finding its way to South Korea.

This was evident at a function where the Vice President Major Jessica Alupo Epel chose the Heartland Coffee brand and handed it over to the South Korean Delegation that visited her office.

The brain behind the Heartland coffee, Morrison Rwakakamba hailed Vice President Alupo for choosing the brand which he said is the pride of Rujumbura in Rukungiri District, South Western Uganda.

Rwakakamba pointed out that Heartland Arabic coffee trees were carefully selected by his Dad, the late Kahamutuima, ( from my heart), from his father’s garden that was established in 1912.

“These arabica coffee trees were introduced in Uganda around 1900 from Nyasa/Nyasaland now Malawi (Typica-type) and that’s why in Uganda it’s called ‘nasalsnda’.

Rwakakamba noted that he has grown this type of coffee at q,650 meters above sea level on hilltops of Nyakashozi and Katagiraeishokye in greater Rujumbura and some parts of Nyakishenyi.

He said that, they are soon introducing Heartland fine Robusta coffee farming in Kabingo village in Buhunga Sub-county also  in Rujumbura in Rukungiri District.
